Steve Austin of Today is the Day will Produce new Disaster Strikes album for Alternative Tentacles (6/22/2005, 11:59pm)
Legendary underground sound sculptor Steve Austin (pictured left) will team up with Beantown’s own Disaster Strikes in the studio this July to serve as lead producer of their fourth release of intense hardcore. The new DS release will be issued in the latter half of 2005 by SF-based cultural provocateurs Alternative Tentacles. Austin is best known as the innovative and irrepressible lead vocalist of metal outfit Today is
the Day and has produced releases by underground heavyweights such as Lamb of God, The Unsane, Disassociate, and Bane, among many others.
“It’s a perfect match. This is the kind of band that comes along once in a lifetime,” said Steve Austin of the new partnership with Disaster Strikes, “We are going to change and influence minds with this powerful new record by one of the most honest and real bands goin' on.”
The Disaster Strikes sessions with Steve Austin will begin on July 4th, 2005.
“Steve Austin is a wild dude,” said DS guitarist Been Wiser, “He does some awesome work and I’m definitely looking forward to this.”
Formed in 1999, Disaster Strikes have crafted their own unique brand of punk and hardcore inspired by Econochrist, Dead Kennedys, and Crass, but like all Alternative Tentacles artists, their politically informed, impassioned music is not easily pigeonholed. Disaster Strikes joins a growing number of East-Coast-based bands partnering with AT, including
NYC outfit Leftover Crack, and fellow Boston punks Toxic Narcotic.
